Style crush: Emma Robertson

I've followed Emma's blog for a few years now.  It never fails to inspire me, as does her sense of personal style.  She doesn't post outfits often but when she does you can guarantee they're a great blend of simple, on trend monochrome with the odd pop of colour - and just that right amount of quirky.

You can read an interview with Emma on her style at Refinery 29.

Weekend snapshots

1. Taking my crochet projects to the park.
2. Betty soaking up the sun on our rag-rug.
3. Pretty blooms.
4. Current colours - fingers and toes.
5. My essential oil collection.

I actually did a lot more this weekend than these pictures make out.  We went to see The Great Gatsby at our local independent cinema, watched our friend dance in Matthew Bourne's production of Sleeping Beauty, ate the best burgers ever at a trendy restaurant in Manchester, got giddy on cocktails and met a puppy called Spider.  Yes this last bank holiday weekend was action packed - I had a lot of fun.  Sometimes I regret not documenting each special memory, but at the same time I was having too much fun living them.  It can be liberating sometimes leaving the camera behind.  Next time though, I promise to share.

Walking

I've said this before, but I feel so lucky to live where I do.  Right on my doorstep is this!  Miles and miles of beautiful landscape to explore and behold.  Since moving here, me and Floyd have really gotten into taking long walks in the countryside.  Breathing in the fresh air, feeling the cool wind against our faces and really appreciating what Mother nature has given us.  As I keep saying - lucky.

It was Floyd's birthday a couple of weeks ago, so to celebrate he gathered a few of our good friends and suggested a long walk in the Peaks followed by some real ale and some grub; and that's exactly what we did (grub and ale not pictured).  We started our journey in one of Sheffield's gems - 'The Tap'.  A place I want to go back and take a million more pictures of because it has so much character.

It was a great way to celebrate his special day and I'm sure all would agree it was a big success (rain and wind included).  I can't wait until next time.

Treats and Treasures

Hello and welcome to my new feature!  I've been trying to think of ways to showcase some of the little things in my life that I've been treated to (or treated myself), things that I treasure or treasures that I have unearthed.  This is just another way for me to stop and appreciate some of the things I already have, or the simple pleasures in life you can sometimes overlook.

Pictured above is a strange ornament my good friend Dave bought me for my birthday one year.  Many people don't really get this, but I love it!  It's got that perfect balance of cute and ugly - something I appreciate (hey Betty).  He lives on my mantlepiece in the living room, nestled next to the origami rabbits left over from Easter.  His funny face always makes me smile.  Speaking of funny faces...

Good Night, Day: Collection 13/14

I'm completely swooning over the latest collection for Good Night, Day.  All of the pieces are completely one of a kind and I just love the way they have been styled.  I'm feeling all kinds of inspired over here!  Check out more from the shop here.  Now then, where are my knitting needles..?

The Wall

These past few days have been windy and wet, but before this we actually got a sniff of sunshine here in the UK.  These pictures were taken on the first sunny day we'd had in ages - I literally jumped for joy!  Haha - I love a good action shot.

200

Since my first post in November 2011 I have seen this blog of mine develop slowly.  I have learned so much about my own photography and style and picked up many new skills along the way.  I still have a long way to go with this here blog of mine, but I am proud of the progress I have made so far.  Cheers to my 200th post... woohoo!
